Founded in 1746, Princeton is one of the oldest and finest universities in the country. The campus is in the town of Princeton, New Jersey. Undergraduates here are surrounded by over 250 years of finely-honed educational tradition. Each year a mere 11% of total applicants are accepted.

“There are no factories, toxic waste dumps, or smokestacks,” states one student. Such is the town of Princeton: affluent, tranquil, and safe, with parks, woods, and bike trails here and there. One side of the campus is Nassau Street with coffee shop and affordable restaurants; the other side ends with a huge artificial lake.
在学生眼中，普林斯顿大学是一个“没有工厂，没有垃圾，没有废气”的好地方。普林斯顿城市也同样，有的只是富足、宁静和安逸，到处都是公园、树林、蜿蜒的林荫小道。校园一侧就是纳尔逊大街，有许多咖啡屋和价格适中的餐厅，另一侧是巨大的人工湖。
On campus, interspersed among the Gothic buildings are examples of Colonial architecture. The most notable one is Nassau Hall, which served as the temporary home of the Continental Congress in 1783.

Princeton places emphasis on undergraduates—70% of Princeton’s department chairs teach introductory undergraduate courses. Princeton’s semester system gives students a two-week reading period before exams and the university allow for unproctored exam—unique among the lvies.

In an attempt to improve the life quality of freshmen and sophomores, Princeton has grouped many of its dorms into residential colleges (following Yale), each with its own dining hall and an active social calendar.

Some halls have amenities, including living rooms and bay windows. Some modern dorms with kitchens are considered the best on campus and are filled up quickly every year by seniors who do not belong to eating clubs. Only 3% of the students live off campus.

As Princeton’s most lasting tradition, these clubs are run by students and are unaffiliated with the university. Of the twelve, seven admit members through an open lottery. More than half of all the sophomores join one of the clubs at the end of the year.

Students can go to New York or Philadelphia, each one-hour away (in opposite directions) by train. McCarter Theatre, adjacent to campus, is the nation’s seventh-busiest performing arts center and houses Princeton’s Triangle Club.
